Joshua Glenn, guitar, ukulele

Updated: Jan 26

Joshua Glenn is a dynamic and versatile music educator originally from coastal Mississippi, with extensive teaching experience in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Florida. With a strong foundation in classical guitar performance, Joshua has studied at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance (2016), and at the University of Louisville, where he completed his Master of Music in Classical Guitar Performance (2019).

Joshua's passion for music extends far beyond the classroom. An accomplished performer, he has shared his talents as a guitarist in a variety of settings including rock and jazz bands, marching band pits, and as a solo artist. His extensive performance experience also includes playing the lute in an early music ensemble and collaborating in chamber music ensembles with instrumentalists and vocalists. Joshua has a deep understanding of music theory, analysis, and transcription, and his expertise spans a broad range of musical styles and genres, with a particular focus on guitar repertoire.

Joshua loves working with students of all ages, sharing his expertise on both guitar and ukulele. His teaching experience includes teaching class guitar and private lessons to non-music majors, as well as instructing music therapy students at the University of Louisville. Joshua is dedicated to helping his students grow, not just technically, but also creatively, encouraging them to explore their unique voices in music. His dedication to teaching is also evident in his past role as a general music and band teacher with Wilson County Schools, as well as his teaching experience with Robert F. Munroe Day School.

In addition to his work as a teacher and performer, Joshua is also a passionate oil painter, combining his love for visual arts with his musical creativity. When he’s not playing or teaching music, you can find him composing and painting, embracing the same dedication to artistic expression that he shares with his students.

Joshua is thrilled to continue his teaching career and looks forward to contributing to the vibrant music scene in Tallahassee. He’s eager to inspire, challenge, and help students achieve their musical goals while fostering a love for music that will last a lifetime.
