Making Light Productions is a direct Step Up For Students provider offering performing arts programs in Tallahassee. Eligible Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) and Personalized Education Program (PEP) funds can be used for qualifying group classes and private lessons in musical theatre, acting, dance, music, visual art, film, and technical theatre. We understand the financial considerations families may have, which is why we have simplified the process to utilize this scholarship for our classes and lessons.

Here's how it works:

  1. Explore our offerings: Browse our diverse selection of music, art, theatre, and dance classes available on our website. Note the classes and private lessons you’re interested in.

  2. Check your funding status: Before moving forward, please confirm that funds are currently available in your student's EMA account. If funding is not yet available, please contact us first to discuss options.

  3. Reserve funding: For each group class and private lesson you want to take, reserve the appropriate funding in EMA:

    • For group classes, choose the amount in EMA that covers the entire semester (or the entire year for Dance 2 and Dance 3).

    • For private lessons, reserve the monthly payment rate. You can choose to reserve funds month-by-month or for multiple months at a time—whichever works best for you.

    • This video from SUFS demonstrates how to reserve funds: https://youtu.be/TLh5h9nJ_Sk?

  4. Pre-register: Complete the pre-registration form, indicating your desired classes and lessons, as well as your intention to use a SUFS scholarship.

  5. Receive confirmation: Once the funding is reserved in EMA and we receive your pre-registration form, we’ll schedule your requested classes and lessons in Opus1 and email you confirmation.

  6. Start enjoying your classes: Begin attending your chosen classes or private lessons and experience the enrichment they offer!

Important note: For monthly private lessons, you’ll receive an invoice showing the amount due each month. The invoice will be in a pending state (you’ll also get payment reminders) until payment is reserved in EMA. This change helps reduce manual processes on our end and ensures you have accurate invoices for your records.

We are here to support you throughout the process, so please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding the utilization of these scholarships at Making Light Productions.

We look forward to assisting you and helping your loved ones thrive in our engaging and inclusive classes!
