Code of Conduct
At Making Light Productions, our goal is to make sure everyone feels safe, valued, and included — both on and off stage. Our rules are simple:

-
You are choosing to be here.
-
Your choices should help everyone have a good experience.

Everything else we do connects back to those two ideas.

-
Be Kind. Use words and actions that help others feel welcome and respected.
-
Be Safe. Follow directions from instructors and staff, and use materials, props, and equipment for their intended purpose.
-
Be Ready. Arrive on time, bring your materials, practice at home, participate fully, and give your best effort — whatever that looks like for you.
-
Be Honest. Take responsibility for your actions and words, even when it’s hard.
-
Be Supportive. Celebrate your classmates’ successes. Don’t gossip, tease, or make fun of others — on stage, online, or anywhere else.
-
Be Respectful. Listen when others are talking. Follow the rules of the space and take care of our costumes, props, and building.

Social Media & Communication

-
Speak kindly online, just as you would in class or rehearsal.
-
Don’t post about casting, rehearsals, or other people’s roles unless it is to sincerely congratulate them.
-
If something happens online that makes you uncomfortable participating in classes at MLP, tell a staff member right away.

If There’s a Problem
If you ever feel unsafe, disrespected, or unsure how to handle a situation:

-
You can talk to any instructor or director, or
-
Ask a parent to contact the Program Director (Emily) or Executive Director (Juliet).

They’ll listen, help, and make sure you’re supported.

Consequences
If someone’s choices hurt others or disrupt the group, we’ll work together to fix it. This might include a reminder, a break, a conversation with a parent, or other steps. Our goal is always to learn and move forward — not to punish.
