Julia Blagodir brings a rich and diverse background in theatre and film to Making Light Productions, along with a deep passion for helping students grow as confident, expressive performers. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Julia’s artistic journey has taken her to Los Angeles and now to Tallahassee, where she’s excited to share her skills and ignite a love for acting in students of all ages.
Julia began her career as a songwriter and recording artist before discovering her true calling in the world of acting. Drawing from her training in physical theatre and the Fitzmaurice Voicework technique, she helps students connect authentically with their bodies and voices, unlocking honest, powerful performances. Her stage credits include standout roles in Almost, Maine and Eurydice, and she has appeared on screen in major films like the Oscar-nominated The Disaster Artist and The Way Back starring Ben Affleck.
As both a dedicated teacher and a mom of two energetic kids, Julia brings warmth, creativity, and a nurturing spirit to her work. Whether she’s coaching a beginner or an experienced actor, Julia meets each student where they are, helping them build confidence and find their unique voice. She is especially passionate about working with young performers and adult learners alike, offering personalized guidance that makes the learning process both joyful and empowering.
