Ellen Girvin: Acting, Comedy, and Improv

Ellen Girvin is a theatre artist, educator, and performer with a B.A. in Theatre from Florida State University, where she also studied acting abroad in London. She is a graduate of iO (ImprovOlympic) and has performed in numerous stage productions in Chicago and Los Angeles. She also spent seven years performing comedy dinner theatre with The Murder Mystery Company.
Her favorite stage credits include The Merry Wives of Windsor (Mistress Ford), One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Candy), Two Noble Kinsmen (Jailer’s Daughter), and The Altruists (Sydney).
Ellen brings her professional performing arts experience into the classroom, helping students develop their performance skills, creativity, and confidence. She takes an individualized approach to teaching, meeting students where they are while encouraging them to take risks and stretch their abilities. She works to provide a supportive environment where students can step outside their comfort zones, explore their creativity, and have fun on stage.
Ellen believes the strongest performances come from emotional honesty and authenticity. She helps students find a genuine connection to their characters and material while building the confidence to make bold choices and bring stories to life.
