Vanessa Wray (she/her) serves as Director of Musical Theatre at Making Light Productions beginning July 2026. A director, intimacy coordinator, stage manager, and choreographer with more than 25 years of theatrical experience, Vanessa is passionate about the collaborative nature of theatre arts and creating inclusive, engaging environments where performers of all ages can grow creatively and confidently.
A graduate of the University of Central Florida, Vanessa teaches a wide range of dance and theatre disciplines and brings a thoughtful, team-centered approach to every production she works on. Since joining Making Light Productions in 2024, she has contributed to numerous productions including The Stinky Cheese Man, Zombie Prom, Firebringer, Urinetown, Beetlejuice Jr., Freaky Friday, and Sweeney Todd School Edition.
In the broader Tallahassee theatre community, Vanessa’s credits include Director/Choreographer for Damn Yankees and Big Fish at Quincy Music Theatre, Choreographer/Intimacy Coordinator for Legally Blonde at Tallahassee State College, and Choreographer/Costumer for Clue at Quincy Music Theatre.
Outside of theatre, Vanessa enjoys exploring new places with her husband Greg and son Atlas, gardening, and spending time with her two cats and many chickens.
